BYRDS is the British Young Riders Dressage Scheme
Cornwall Dressage Group has a number of Junior members who are also members of BYRDS and of various Pony Clubs in the area.
Teal Anthoney, who reports her recent activities here is one of them.
“I took my pony Ben to a BD competition near the end of June; we got 65.4% and won the Restricted section, we also matched the Open section score!! This half qualified us for the Petplan Area Festival and we are going to another BD competition on 18 July to try to get the other half. In the next test we had 60.4% and came 6th. There were a lot of Novice riders in that test using Prelim as a warm up so it was strong competition.
We went to out first ODE on 5 July, Ben’s first one ever. We were in the 75cm class and had 26.4 in our dressage and clear show jumping which put us in first place. We had a clear XC which I was delighted about, no time faults and finished 1st. I then found out that we had the best dressage score of the whole day, and best overall score!! I couldn’t believe it.”
Teal and fellow Junior CDG member Emily Badcock have now both qualified for the Petplan Area Festival. They had to gain at least 62% twice at Affiliated Dressage for this qualification.
So well done Teal and Emily - keep up the good work and keep up the BYRDS & CDG training.
